The campus itself is listed among the National Register of Historic places and sits atop a hill overlooking Chestnut Hill; the campus is noted for its Collegiate Gothic style architecture and scenery. Although its name suggests that it is a smaller college, BC is a global research university and consistently ranks among the very best universities in the country.
Comprised of nine schools and colleges, Boston College retains an added emphasis on rigorous liberal arts studies for its undergraduates. Boston College is home to a number of highly-ranked programs and studies including: BC Law School, Carroll School of Management, and Lynch School of Education. There are more than 200 student organizations on campus; students can venture off campus into the heart of Boston for premier athletics, music, cultural, and entertainment venues and institutes.
The Boston College Eagles compete at the Division I level predominantly in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The Eagles have competitive varsity programs across 30 teams and are headlined by the men’s hockey team which has garnered 5 NCAA titles -3 of those coming in the last decade.
Notable alumni and attendees include current U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, actress Amy Poehler, and NFL quarterback Matt Ryan.
