Student activities and night life are concentrated in the college town atmosphere of Five Points and the Vista; two neighborhood districts near campus devoted to restaurants, shopping, and a vibrant night life. The University of South Carolina has 7 satellite schools and USC at Columbia is the largest university in the state with a total enrollment of 32,000 students.

The University is comprised of 14 schools and colleges; among its most notable are its international business programs and its top-ranked public Honors College. There are more than 300 registered organizations and clubs on campus for students to participate in. Approximately 20% of the student body is involved with Greek life.

The South Carolina Gamecocks compete at the Division I level in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The men’s baseball program has garnered national attention as of late, recently claiming back-to-back NCAA titles.

Notable alumni and attendees include musician Darius Rucker and founder of XM Satellite Radio, Gary Parsons.
